Mazinger Z Gets New Theatrical Anime Film


One of the great grandaddies of all super robots is back for another adventure!

Earlier today, at AnimeJapan, news broke that Mazinger Z will get a new theatrical film. Tentatively titled Gekijoban Mazinger Z (Movie Version Mazinger Z), the project was introduced by Go Nagai in a pre-recorded video.

The first cast and crew, as well as a teaser trailer and visual were officially unveiled at the event.

The film will star Kabuto Koji as Shotaro Morikubo, with Ai Kayano playing heroine Bow Sayaka.

Staff

Atsushi Shimizu will direct the film at Toei Animation, with Takahiro Ozawa (Tokyo Toy Box) writing the script. Mechanical designer Takayuki Yanase (Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Valvrave the Liberator) is providing mechanical designs for the project, while Hiroya Iijima (Afro Samurai, Gravitation: Lyrics of Love) takes charge of character designs.
