TBS Streams Clockwork Planet Anime’s TV Spot

Not to be confused with A Clockwork Orange. Seriously. Don’t make that mistake.

Earlier today, TBS started streaming a new TV spot for the Clockwork Planet anime series. The 30-second teaser features fripside’s clockwork planet as a background track.

Clockwork Planet will début on TBS on April 6 at 25:58 (4/7/2017 at 1:58AM). BS-TBS will air the title two days later, on April 8 at 25:00 (4/9/2017 at 1:00AM).

Clockwork Planet will adapt Yuu Kamiya and Tsubaki Himana’s light novel series of the same name. Tsuyoshi Nagasawa (MM!, Nyaruko: Crawling with Love!) is directing the show at Xebec, with Shuichi Shimamura (Honey and Clover, Saber Marionette J) providing character designs. Kenji Sugihara (Shiki, Oreca Battle) is in charge of series composition.

fripside will perform opening theme song clockwork planet, while After the Rain provides closing theme Anticlockwise.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • RyuZU: Ai Kakuma
  • Naoto Miura: Yoshino Nanjo
  • Vainney Halter: Kenichirou Matsuda
  • Marie Bell Breguet: Saori Onishi
  • AnchoR: Sayaka Senbongi

The Clockwork Planet light novels kicked off under Kodansha’s Kodansha Ranobe Bunko imprint in April 2013. Shino provided illustrations for each of the books. To date, four volumes were released, with the most recent hitting stores on January 15, 2016.

Kamiya and Himana partnered with Kuro to produce a manga series, which launched in Monthly Shonen Sirius in 2013. To date, six collected volumes have been released, with the most recent hitting stores on January 25.

Kodansha Comics currently holds the rights to the Clockwork Planet manga. They describe it as:

Naoto’s a high school dropout and brilliant amateur tinkerer. He lives in a world that has been so over-exploited that the entire surface has become one vast machine. When a box crashes into his home containing a female automaton, it’s a harbinger of change that will rock the entire globe, and give Naoto his chance to be a hero.
