Mike Ferreira: Good evening everyone, and welcome to the Herald Anime Club. Tonight it’s a two-person panel, with L.B. Bryant and myself leading the discussion.
L.B. Bryant: Ello!
Mike Ferreira: This week we’ll be talking about The Royal Tutor’s third episode, which I’ve started calling “Be good boys!”
L.B. Bryant: lol Makes sense to me
Mike Ferreira: This was an interesting episode, for sure – we got to see the princes really start to settle into their roles… and Bruno get to become this weird combination of fascinating and creepy.

L.B. Bryant: lol Bruno was fine at first but then he called the relationship between Licht and the tutor “enviable” and all bets were kind of off at that point.
L.B. Bryant: In fact, Bruno’s whole reaction to Licht in general was pretty priceless. All the way up until Kai walks into the room.
L.B. Bryant: Which was another very fun sequence.
Mike Ferreira: Definitely. Speaking of, Licht was great, in general. Trying to get chummy with Heine only to get the nonchalant hand slap
L.B. Bryant: heh indeed.
L.B. Bryant: Though the capper of the whole first half for me was Leo’s scene. Mostly because the only point he got on his test was a pity point for writing his name correctly.
Mike Ferreira: Oh man, yeah. That was great. The brothers tried to justify it, but nope. He just didn’t get anything right
Mike Ferreira: “You got them in the wrong spots!” “Nope.” “You got nervous!” “He was in a good mood before.” “Oh, shit”
L.B. Bryant: Absolutely.

Mike Ferreira: Not to mention Bruno’s reaction when Heine went to chase after
L.B. Bryant: Which part of his reaction are you referring to exactly?
Mike Ferreira: When he dove out the window headfirst
L.B. Bryant: lol Ah right.
Mike Ferreira: Of course, him freaking out after the sun went down was priceless, too
L.B. Bryant: Personally the best part of that whole bit was the BIG thing that was revealed about Heine… he is sworn to secrecy regarding where he came from. What kind of secret society of educators is this dude a part of?
Mike Ferreira: Indeed. That was a fantastic piece of intrigue – and I have to wonder that, myself. He’s clearly not an average person.
Mike Ferreira: Christ – he can ride a horse full speed while standing up. That’s something even trained acrobats can’t do well
L.B. Bryant: No joke heh

Mike Ferreira: I’m wondering if we’ll see that blonde maid become a bigger part of the story, too. She seems to be pretty much a constant in the day-to-day castle life
L.B. Bryant: This is very true. I think that she’s going to get more involved in the story; I’m guessing it’ll be in some kind of romantic capacity as well.
Mike Ferreira: Indeed. Possibly a love quadrangle?
L.B. Bryant: Maybe.
Mike Ferreira: I dunno – something about her finding poor Heine squished against the wall was just perfect. The timing, the reaction… it was spot-on.
L.B. Bryant: Also have to love how they left arguably the best joke for last when Heine rolled over and got stuck on the side of his bed. That was the second moment (after the pity point joke) of the episode that had me rolling.
Mike Ferreira: Oh man, yeah. That had me snickering

Mike Ferreira: That and Kai the Cinnamon Roll Prince. Because Kai wants everyone to be a good boy.
L.B. Bryant: hehe very true
Mike Ferreira: I’m definitely curious to see where things go next
L.B. Bryant: Indeed. I told my wife a couple of nights ago that this one was safely a winner that I want to show to her asap because I think she would really like it.
Mike Ferreira: Smart move
Mike Ferreira: It’s a series that’s genuinely funny when it needs to be, but really has a lot of heart. Yes, it’s schmaltzy right now, but the cast, the world… it all just fits together beautifully
L.B. Bryant: Agreed there. I’m very curious to see how the first set of lessons go.
Mike Ferreira: Well, we have a prince who’s literally foaming at the mouth to serve Heine, and Heine carries a riding crop…
Mike Ferreira: I’m saying there’s porn of this already. There has to be.
L.B. Bryant: That was a mental image that I did not need.

Mike Ferreira: I’m good for that.
L.B. Bryant: Prick.
Mike Ferreira: I’m such a bitch.
L.B. Bryant: lol So long as you’re aware of it.
Mike Ferreira: Damn right.
Mike Ferreira: Any final words for this episode before we wrap up?
L.B. Bryant: This has more than surpassed my quality standard for the three episode mark and I’m looking forward to finishing this one off.
Mike Ferreira: You and me both. So far, this has been a great season. A shame some of the high-water marks are pretty much inaccessible for a lot of people
Mike Ferreira: Anyway, that’s our time for the week. Til next time, remember that riding a horse while standing up, while cool, is unsafe for you and the horse.
L.B. Bryant: Night everyone!
Mike Ferreira: Have a great night.
