Now, if only someone could take home the Grand Prize…

Earlier today, Kyoto Animation (and their KA Esuma Bunko publishing label) unveiled the results of their eighth annual Kyoto Animation Awards. This year, like many years, no category saw a Grand Prize winner.

That said, Hiroshi Yuuki was awarded an “Encouragement Incentive ” award this year for light novel series 20th Century Electric Catalog. The judges praised the work for its well-developed characters and settings, which helped to support an insightful look at life in modern times.

No prizes were awarded in the Short Story category this year.

This is the first award given out at the Kyoto Animation Awards since 2014. In 2015 and 2016, no prizes were awarded. In 2014, Kana Akatsuki’s Violet Evergarden took home the Grand Prize.
