“Isekai Shokudo” Anime Gets New Teaser Trailer & Additional Cast Member

It’s time to take a tour of a truly otherworldly eatery.

Earlier today, the official Isekai Shokudo (Restaurant to Another World) anime website updated with a new promotional video. The 50-second teaser offers a look at the interior of the titular restaurant.

The video ends with a première schedule. The series will air on the following networks

  • TV Tokyo: 7/3/2017 at 1:35AM
  • BS Japan: 7/8/2017 at 12:30AM
  • AT-X: 7/6/2017 at 8:00PM

The site also unveiled a new cast member. Saori Ōnishi will join the cast as Kuro, a shape-shifting black dragon. Despite her immense power, Kuro’s life is changed forever when she attends the Western Cuisine Cat Restaurant and samples their chicken curry. From that day, she becomes addicted to the dish, and ultimately joins the restaurant’s staff so she can keep enjoying the curry.

An updated version of the key visual was released, which includes Kuro in addition to Master and Aletta:

Furthermore, visuals of the major characters were uploaded to the site. You can check these out below:

Isekai Shokudo is based on Junpei Inuzuka’s light novel series of the same name. Masato Jinbo (Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei Herz!, Chaos;Child) will direct the series and take charge of series composition at Silver Link. The team of Takao Sano (Nurse Witch Komugi R, Shomin Sample) and Keiichi Sano (Heaven’s Memo Pad, Strike the Blood) will provide character designs for the project.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Shopkeeper/Master: Junichi Suwabe
  • Aletta: Sumire Uesaka

“Wake Up, May’n!”, a collaboration between the Wake Up, Girls! idol unit and May’n (image below), will perform opening theme song One in a Billion. Kiyono Yasuno will perform closing theme song Namida (Tears).

Junpei Inuzuka published the first Isekai Shokudo story on Japanese site Shosetsu-ka ni Naro (Let’s Become Novelists!) in 2013. The first print edition was released in February 2015, under Shufunotomo’s Hero Bunko. Shufunotomo’s published versions feature illustrations by Katsumi Inami.

To date, two volumes have been published. The third book is slared to hit retailers on September 30. A manga adaptation of the title is also in the works, which will début in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine. According to Inuzuka, the manga will share the same first chapter as the original work, though subsequent chapters will diverge from the original books.
