New Promotional Video and Cast Reveals for Love and Lies Anime

We’re only a couple of weeks away from the 2017 summer season which means it’s time for production committees to put their best foot forward and make their final last ditch efforts to draw your attention their direction.

This morning a brand new promotional video for Love and Lies showed up online ahead of their July 3rd premiere. In the almost two minute long video, we also see a couple of new cast announcements.

Including the previous three announcements (though one shouldn’t count since they announced the same cast members twice just specifying roles the second time), the cast list now reads:

Misaki Takasaki: Kana Hanazawa
Lilina Sanada: Yui Makino
Yukari Nejima: Ryota Osaka
Yuusuke Nisaka: Shinnosuke Tachibana
Hajime Yajima: Kishou Taniyama
Kagetsu Ichijou: Tomoyo Kurosawa
Narrator: Eri Kitamura

Manga resource Baka-Updates describes Love and Lies as:

Lies are forbidden and love is doubly forbidden.

In the near future, when young people in Japan turn sixteen, they are assigned a marriage partner by the government. People don’t have to go through the trouble of looking for someone, and everyone accepts that the country will find a compatible partner to make them happy.

Yukari Nejima is fifteen years old. He lives in a small corner of the country, and just can’t seem to get ahead in life. Both academically and athletically he’s below average. But in within him, he hides a heart burning with passion! In this world in which love is forbidden, what will happen to him when he falls in love?

As a fan, I have to admit that this is a premise that is hitting me right across the face. While there is always a chance that things could go screwy along the way, the general premise of a possible future where the government handles love matters is intriging to me due to the sheer number of possibilities that this story could go into. This is definitely one that I would recommend keeping their eye on.
