Crunchyroll To Simulcast “My First Girlfriend is a Gal”, “Magical Circle Guru-Guru!”

Urge to quote the School Rumble intro rising…

Earlier today, Crunchyroll announced that two shows will join their Summer 2017 simulcast lineup. The company will stream My First Girlfriend is a Gal and Magical Circle Guru-Guru! as they air in Japan. The première schedule is as follows:

  • My First Girlfriend is a Gal: 7/12/2017 at 8:30AM Pacific (11:30AM Eastern)
  • Magical Circle Guru-Guru!: 7/11/2017 at 11:05AM Pacific (2:05PM Eastern)

Both shows will be available to all Crunchyroll subscribers outside of Asia.

My First Girlfriend is a Gal

My First Girlfriend is a Gal is based on Meguru Ueno’s Hajimete no Gal manga. Hiroyuki Furukawa (My Wife is the Student Council President, Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia) is pulling double duty as director and character designer on the project at studio NAZ. Yūichirō Momose (Minori Scramble!, Sakura Internet Shinsei) is in charge of series composition for the series.

  • Junichi Hashiba: Shintarō Asanuma
  • Yukana Yame: Yuki Nagaku
  • Ranko Honjō: Eri Kitamura
  • Yui Kashii: Ayana Taketatsu
  • Shizune Fujinoki: Yui Ogura

Crunchyroll describes the show as:

A new school term begins, as does the season of new encounters.

As he surveys his class full of couples, Hashiba Jun’ichi’s mind is filled with distress as he asks himself, “Why am I still a virgin?!” Having heard from his friends that the easiest way to fulfill his long-standing desire to graduate from the fellowship of virgins is to kowtow to a gal, Jun’ichi does exactly that and asks his classmate Yukana out. And unbelievably, she actually agrees to date him.

What will become of Jun’ichi from now on?

Magical Circle Guru-Guru

Magical Circle Guru-Guru (Mahojin Guru Guru) is a new series, which is unrelated to the 1994 series of the same name, nor will the series adapt the more recent Mahojin Guru Guru 2. Rather, the series will start at the beginning of the first entry in Hiroyuki Eto’s long-running manga series.

Hiroshi Ikehata (FLCL 2, Seiyu’s Life!) is directing the project at Production I.G., with Naoyuki Asano (Mr. Osomatsu, Saint Young Men) providing character designs. Hisaaki Okui is in charge of series composition.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Kukuri: Konomi Kohara
  • Nike: Shizuka Ishigami
  • Sōsai: Akira Ishida
  • Kita Kita Oyaji: Katsuyuki Konishi
  • Raid: Nobuhiko Okamoto
  • Runrun: Saori Ōnishi
  • Gipple: Takahiro Sakurai
  • JuJu: Yō Taichi
  • Toma: Yukiyo Fujii

Crunchyroll describes Magical Circle Guru-Guru! as:

Nike, a boy from the Boering Village village, is forcefully sent along on a quest to defeat the Devil King after his Hero-worshipping parents see a posting from the king summoning potential heroes.

Following the village’s traditions, he visits the magical old lady where he is entrusted with caring for a young girl named Kukuri, who can use the mysterious Guru Guru magic. According to the old woman’s claims, Kukuri is the last survivor of the Migu Migu clan who wield Guru Guru, and she has been waiting for a Hero to appear.

It will be a journey filled with laughter, and occasional tears. And now the classic fantasy featuring a slacker Hero and a naive young Mage begins unfold!
