Before you ask, no, there are no zombies involved. This will likely bring tears on a level of Your Lie in April.

Earlier today, Aniplex started streaming a teaser trailer for upcoming film I Want to Eat Your Pancreas (Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai). The 30-second trailer features camera shots of key plot items and settings, with several shots of Sakura spread between them. The teaser closes with the narrator character and Sakura standing alone on a bridge, before she fades away.

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas will hit Japanese theaters in 2018.

The project is based on a 2015 novel of the same name by Yoru Sumino. The feature revolves around a high school student, who discovers a “Disease Coexistence Journal” that belongs to his classmate Sakura. As fate would have it, Sakura has just one year to live, as she’s fighting pancreatic cancer.

The book follows the narrator’s journey through that year and beyond, as he recounts the time he spent with Sakura and (later) Sakura’s friend Kyoko.

The title received a live-action adaptation this year, which starred Shun Oguri as the narrator and Keiko Kitagawa as Kyoko.
