Soon, the ash-layered streets of Chimney Town will teem with a whole new life.
On Wednesday, Oricon News reported that Aeon Entertainment and Yoshimoto Kogyo Co., Ltd. are joining forces to produce, promote, and distribute new films. As part of the new deal, the two parties are looking into working on previously-unannounced anime film Poupelle of Chimney Town (Entotsu-chō no Poupelle).
If the two parties decide to proceed, the film will have a projected 2019 première window. Akihiro Nishino, who wrote the Poupelle of Chimney Town book, will helm the project in his directorial debut.
Aeon Entertainment is an entertainment conglomerate, which operates 90 Aeon Cinema locations (and 763 screens) across Japan. Yoshimoto Kogyo Co., Ltd. is a major Japanese entertainment conglomerate, who handle planning, production, and marketing for over 650 Japanese entertainers. The company, which was founded in Osaka in 1932, boasts ¥61.7 billion ($547,788,315.77 USD) in total assets.
Poupelle of Chimney Town is a picture book by Nishino, which debuted in October 2016. The title boasts over 320,000 copies in print.
