This bear just wants you to relax and take a load off. You’ve earned it.

Earlier today, the team for the Rilakkuma anime unveiled the major staff members, along with the show’s full title and première window. The series, which is officially titled Rilakkuma to Kaoru-san (Rilakkuma & Kaoru-san), will début in Spring 2019. The show was pushed back from a previously planned “2018” window.

Masahito Kobayashi was tapped to direct Rilakkuma to Kaoru-san at Domo-kun studio Dwarf Studio. Naoko Ogigami is writing the scripts for the project.

TYO unveiled Rilakkuma to Kaoru-san in June. The 13-episode series will be a stop-motion project, which will stream on Netflix in 190 countries.

Rilakkuma is an original character produced by Japanese stationery company San-X. Aki Kondo created the character in 2003.

Since his creation, Rilakkuma has gone on to appear in numerous media, including picture books, video games, and comics. The character appears on countless merchandise, from stationery, dishware, and backpacks to its own branded line of plush dolls.

The official Rilakkuma website describes the brand as:

“Rilakkuma” means “Bear in relaxed mood.”
At all time and everywhere he goes he is continuously lazy and relaxed. He is totally stress-free and
also doing things on his own pace. He is someone impossible to be hated by others. You will be dragged
into Rilakkuma’s world and become lazy and relaxed while watching what everything he does.
