Trust me when I say that this is a different Kenshiro.

Earlier today, the official Fist of the Blue Sky ReGenesis (Souten no Ken ReGenesis) anime website updated with a new key visual, as well as early broadcasting details.

The series is slated to air in April 2018. Tetsuo Hara will serve as supervisor for the project.

That said, though Fist of the Blue Sky ReGenesis carries the same title as the new manga that launched in Monthly Comic Zenon this month, the show’s site only states that the anime is an adaptation of Fist of the Blue Sky as a whole.

The new visual features Kenshiro, pointing out toward the camera, a visible field of sparkles surrounding him.

Fist of the Blue Sky is a prequel to fan-favorite manga Fist of the North Star. The series, which was written by Buronson and Nobuhiko Horie, launched in the pages of Shinchosha’s Weekly Comic Bunch magazine in May 2001. The magazine continued through August 2010, when Weekly Comic Bunch published its final issue. A total of 22 compiled volumes were released to retailers.

Defunct publisher Gutsoon! Entertainment acquired the license for Fist of the Blue Sky, which they ran in manga magazine Raijin Comics. The company published four volumes before they closed up shop.

Gutsoon! described Fist of the Blue Sky as:

It is just before WWII, Kasumi Kenshiro hides as a quiet, absent-minded professor teaching literature at a small women’s college in Tokyo. Once the 62nd Grand Master of Hokuto Shinken, “God Fist of the North Star,” and known has Yan Wang, or “the King of Death,” who preserved the peace in the “City of Devils.” A fighter of thugs and drug dealers, Kasumi seeks anonymity and a quiet life until the death of his lover, and former brothers, forces him to return to Shanghai to fulfill his destiny and avenge the deaths of his associates.
Fist of the Blue Sky inspired a 26-episode television anime adaptation in 2006.

A 26-episode TV series based on Fist of the Blue Sky hit Japanese TV in the Fall 2006 broadcast season. Mihiro Yamaguchi (The Heroic Legend of Arslan OVA II) directed the project at Studio A.P.P.P., with Yoshiaki Tsubata (Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~, The Silver Guardian) providing character designs. Yasuhiro Imagawa (Berserk, Pet Shop of Horrors) was in charge of series composition.
