This quirky tale of gangsters and psychic teenagers will make its grand début in the spring.

Yesterday, the official Hinamatsuri anime website updated with a new teaser trailer, as well as the show’s major cast and a première window. We break the details down below:

Trailer

The minute-long teaser offers a look at Hinamatsuri‘s quirky world, while also introducing the major cast members. A lilting instrumental track plays in the background.

Casting

The series will star the following:

  • Hina: Takako Tanaka
  • Yoshifumi Nitta: Yoshiki Nakajima
  • Anzu: Rie Murakawa
  • Hitomi Mishima: Kaede Hondo

Visuals for the characters were also revealed, which you can check out below.

Premiere

Hinamatsuri will hit Japanese TV in April 2018.

The series is based on Masao Ohtake’s manga of the same name. Kei Oikawa (Outbreak Company, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!) was tapped to direct the series at studio feel., with Kanetoshi Kamimoto (Dagashi Kashi, So I Can’t Play H) providing character designs. Keiichirō Ōchi (La Corda d’Oro Blue Sky) is in charge of series composition for the project.

The Hinamatsuri manga launched in Enterbrain’s Fellows! magazine in 2009. After Fellows! ended publication, the title moved to successor publication Harta. To date, twelve collected volumes have been published, with the thirteenth book set to hit bookstores on Friday.

Manga resource Baka-Updates describes Hinamatsuri as:

One night, a strange object falls on the head of Nitta, a member of the yakuza. Inside the box is a strange young girl named Hina. She has tremendous supernatural powers, and Nitta finds himself reluctantly taking her in. Her powers can come in handy for his yakuza business, but he also runs the risk of her using them on him! Not to mention, if she doesn’t use her powers, she will eventually go berserk and destroy everything around her. Nitta and Hina’s strange life together is just beginning…
