Something tells me that this won’t be as grim as the actual Grimm’s…

Earlier today, fans of Square Enix’s Grimm’s Notes smartphone game flocked to Tokyo’s TABLOID for the “Grimm’s Notes Kansha-sai 2018″ fan event. During the show, it was announced that the title will receive an anime adaptation. More details will be announced regarding the format, release period, cast, and staff at a later date.

That said, Square Enix did indicate that the series won’t be a short-form (five-minute episodes or shorter) project.

A teaser visual was released, which you can check out below

In addition to the anime, Square Enix showed off Grimms Notes Repage, which is a major update to the core game that launches later this month.

Grimms Notes launched on iOS and Android on January 21, 2016. Since its launch, the title has been downloaded more than 15 million times throughout the nation. The title will receive an international release through South Korean publisher Flero Games. Currently, Flero plans to release the title in South Korea, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and twenty-four other European nations.

Grimms Notes is a free-to-play RPG, which is set in a world populated by a people known as “Story Tellers.” In this world, inhabitants are given a “book of fate,” which sees their entire lives written in advance. Rogue Story Tellers, who are known as the Chaos Tellers, are causing havoc by writing horrific events into peoples’ books without their knowing. Those who hold blank books of fate have been tasked with finding the Chaos Tellers to undo their wrongs and restore the world.

As the name implies, the game features characters from classic stories and fairy tales, including Cinderella, Alice (from Alice in Wonderland), and Jeanne D’arc. You can check out a snippet of footage from the game below.
