Former Studio Ghibli Staffer Hirokatsu Kihara to Attend Anime Boston 2018


From bringing worlds to life to chilling readers’ spines, this fellow has had quite the career!

Earlier today, Anime Boston announced that author and former Studio Ghibli staffer Hirokatsu Kihara will attend this year’s event as a guest. This is the author’s second year attending the convention, as he had also been a guest at Anime Boston 2017.

Kihara worked as staffer on the production desk at Studio Ghibli. During his tenure, he worked with Hayao Miyazaki on numerous works, including Laputa: Castle in the SkyMy Neighbor Totoro, and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

As an author, Kihara is known for his work in the Horror genre, with titles like Tales of Terror: Haunted Apartment, Tsukumo Kwaidan, and Kinkiro under his belt.

Hirokatsu Kihara will join six previously confirmed guests:

  • Asaka
  • FLOW
  • Greg Ayres
  • Monica Rial
  • Hideyuki Tomioka
  • Katsuyuki Sumizawa

Anime Boston 2018 will be held from March 30 through April 1 at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center.
