Doreiku: The Animation is based on Shinichi Okada and artist Hiroto Ōishi’s Doreiku: Boku to 23-nin no Dorei (Slave District: 23 Slaves and Me) manga. The series began its life as light novel series Boku to 23-nin no Dorei, which originally appeared on novel site Everystar. Futabasha picked up the rights to the series, which they began publishing the title under their main banner. Three volumes, along with sequel story Doreiku 2nd Shinjuku Kikō Kai and 23-nin no Dorei.ex have been released to date.

Okada and Ōishi have recently begun work on a new series, titled Dai Dorei: Kimi to 1-Oku 3-Senban no Dorei. One volume has been released to date, as the second will hit stores on Tuesday.

The Dorei-ku: Boku to 23-nin no Dorei manga began publication in 2012. Nine compiled volumes have been released to date, with the most recent hitting stores on May 12, 2016.

Manga resource Baka-Updates describes the series as:

What if you could enslave anyone you ever wanted? Well, this comes close. The SCM lets you enslave anyone who is also wearing an SCM, at a price. One must win over the other, at anything, in order for the other to become their slave.
