Come on… no “The Spyce must flow” jokes yet? Boo.
Earlier today, an official website and Twitter account opened to announce an original anime project, titled Release the Spyce. The project is a collaboration between Yuruyuri creator Namori and Yuki Yuna Is a Hero creator Takahiro.
The project will also be the cover of the next issue of Kadokawa’s Dengeki G’s Comic, which hits newsstands tomorrow. The first staff and cast, as well as a character visual and a brief plot overview were officially revealed. We break the details down below.
Character Visual
The image is a full-body shot of lead character Momo Minamoto, set against a white background.
Staff
You Satou was tapped to direct the project at Lay-duce, with Satoshi Ishino (Excel Saga, Date A Live) providing character designs. Co-creator Takahiro is in charge of series composition and original planning for the title.
SORASAKI.F is credited with the original work.

Plot
Release the Spyce will revolve around Momo Minamoto, a high school girl in the city of Sorasaki. Momo’s very different from most people her age, though. She’s actually an agent for the private intelligence agency Tsukikage, which protects the city and its citizens from harm. Under the careful instruction of her senior Yuki, Momo and her other friends keep the peace.
Magazine Covers
A manga adaptation of Release the Spyce is also in the works. The series, titled Release the Spyce – Naisho no Mission (Release the Spyce – Secret Mission) will feature art by Meia Mitsuki. The title will launch in tomorrow’s issue of Dengeki G’s Comic.
But wait, there’s more.
A light novel series, titled Release the Spyce – Golden Genesis will launch in Dengeki G’s Comic‘s next issue. This particular will focus on Yuki Hanzōmon, Momo’s senior.
