Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online launched under Dengeki’s Dengeki Bunko imprint in December 2014. The series currently spans six volumes, with the most recent hitting stores on March 10. A manga adaptation by Sigsawa and artist Tadadi Tamori launched in Dengeki Maoh magazine in 2015. The second volume will hit Japanese bookstores on November 10.

Manga resource Baka-Updates describes the series as:

A 183cm tall female college student, Kohiruimaki Karen, has a complex about her tall figure and has a poor social disposition because of it. This was changed by the VRMMO game «Gun Gale Online» (GGO). In the game, Karen obtained a dream “chibi” avatar less than even 150cm in height, put on a full-body pink uniform and, as the player “LLENN”, frolicked around the world of GGO. A beautiful player “Pitohui” appeared before LLENN. She was a rare female player in GGO and so the two hit off well――but one day, LLENN was asked to take part in a team battle royale formal tournament «Squad Jam» by Pitohui…..

An official spin-off of Sword Art Online supervised by Kawahara Reki, written by the gun supervisor of the Sword Art Online II anime, Sigsawa Keiichi (the author of Kino’s Journey), and illustrated by Kuroboshi Kouhaku.

Yen Press currently holds the domestic rights to the Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online manga. They’ll release the first volume on November 17.
