When I close my eyes, I see these azure dreams…

Earlier today, an official website for the upcoming Grand Blue Dreaming (Grand Blue) anime series opened its doors. The site includes a key visual and trailer, as well as the first staff members attached to the project.

We break the details down below:

Trailer

The 40-second trailer opens with stylized live-action underwater shots of the ocean, which cut between a diver rising to the surface of the water. The video ends with a shot of series leads Iori Kitahara and Chisa Kotegawa in their diving gear.

Key Visual

The image features Iori Kitahara and Chisa Kotegawa underwater in their diving gear.

Staff

Shinji Takamatsu (Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!, Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto) was tapped to direct the project at studio Zero-G. Takamatsu will also handle series composition and sound direction for the project. Hideoki Kusama (Battery the Animation) will provide character designs. NBC Universal is producing the project.

Grand Blue Dreaming hits Japanese TV this summer.

In January, AnimeJapan accidentally announced that Avex would show off several works, including “a new Grand Blue” anime at their event. The listing was quickly pulled.

Kenji Inoue and artist Kimitake Yoshioka launched Grand Blue in the pages of Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon magazine in April 2014. Nine volumes have been released, with the most recent hitting stores in October 6, 2017.

Kodansha Comics is releasing the title in the west under the title Grand Blue Dreaming. They describe the title as:

After moving out on his own to a seaside town, Iori Kitahara makes a college debut he never anticipated. A new chapter of his life unfolds, full of diving with beautiful girls and shenanigans with a gaggle of lovable bastards! Idiot-expert Kenji Inoue and au naturel authority Kimitake Yoshioka bring you a glorious college tale filled with booze-fueled antics!
