“Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai” Gets Anime TV Series

From the minds behind The Pet Girl of Sakurasou comes a new offbeat dramedy.

Earlier today, an official website and Twitter account were opened to announce that Hajime Kamoshida and illustrator Kēji Mizoguchi’s Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai (High School Pigs Don’t Dream of Buny Girl Senpai) light novel will receive an anime TV series. A key visual, plus the broadcast details and first cast members were unveiled for the project, which you can check out below.

Key Visual

The image features Sakuta and Mai standing on a pathway, as the sun sets. The lighting is hazy and the shadows cast are long as the two face away from one another.

Cast

The series will star the following:

  • Sakuta Azusagawa: Kaito Ishikawa
  • Mai Sakurajima: Asami Seto
  • Kaede Azusagawa: Yurika Kubo

Premiere

The series will air on Japanese TV in October. The project is being produced as part of Dengeki Bunko’s 25th anniversary celebration.

Hajime Kamoshida and illustrator Kēji Mizoguchi’s Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai light novel first hit Japanese retailers in April 2014. Seven volumes were released through December 2016.

The title received a manga adaptation by Kamoshida and illustrator Tsugumi Nanamiya, which launched in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki G’s Comic in 2016. To date, one collected volume has been released, which hit stores in October 2016.

Manga resource Baka-Updates describes the title as:

Azusagawa Sakuta is a high school sophomore who due to certain reasons lives alone with his younger sister. Unlike most people his age, he doesn’t have a cellphone. One day, while visiting a nearby library, he encounters someone who shouldn’t have been there: a bunny girl.
