Update 4/7/2018: GoNintendo’s reporting on the topic was erroneous. Funimation issued the following statement on social media today:

Dear fans, you may have heard some news announcing our FunimationNow streaming app on Nintendo Switch. For clarity, you should know that we did not make that official announcement, though we would very much like to do just that and are in the early stages of navigating the possibility. The enthusiasm we are seeing certainly lets us know we have fan support in working to get on the Nintendo Platform. When we have anything official to announce, you will hear it from us first.

Now, where’s that “click” noise… here it is!

Yesterday, Funimation announced that they’re working on a streaming video app for the Nintendo Switch console. The announcement came about during the company’s C2E2 presentation, and concrete details on the app haven’t been announced as of press time.

Nintendo launched their Switch console worldwide on March 3, 2017. The system sold through 4.8 million units in the United States in its first ten months, making it the fastest-selling console in US history. The console has sold through more than 14 million units worldwide.
