“Radiant” Anime Gets WIP Presentation At Annecy

It looks like this year’s Annecy festival will be truly radiant.

Earlier today, The Annecy International Animated Film Festival (Annecy, henceforth) announced that they will screen NHK’s upcoming Radiant anime. The title will be shown as a work-in-progress presentation.

Annecy describes the feature as:

An apprentice sorcerer Seth embarks on a magical mission in search of the “Radiant” where the feared Nemesis are said to arise. Seth believes he can become the great sorcerer who exterminates the Nemesis. With his new friends, he battles powerful enemies and overcomes hardships – all the while under pursuit from the mysterious Inquisition.

Radiant will air in October on NHK’s Educational channel. The show is slated to run for 21 episodes.

The title was first announced in French regions on January 24.

Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, Assassination Classroom) will helm the project at Lerche, with Makoto Uezu (Assassination Classroom Season 2, KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!!) taking charge of series composition. Daiki Fukuoka (Yuki Yuna is A Hero Season 2, Danganronpa 3) is credited as Series Director.

Masato Koda will compose the show’s soundtrack.

Ankama began publishing Tony Valente’s Radiant comic in July 2013. To date, eight volumes have been released, with the most recent shipping to stores in December 2017.
