Sub fans are going to need to wait a little longer to get their dose of crazy sunshine.
Earlier today, Toonami took to Facebook to announce that the subtitled versions of FLCL: Progressive and FLCL: Alternative will see their releases delayed until November. The network explained that the decsion was being made “out of respect for [their] Japanese partners.” The full statement is below:
Out of respect for our Japanese partners, we are pushing back the release of FLCL : Progressive and Alternative English subs to November to align with the release of the Japanese language versions. At that time the English subs for all episodes of FLCL Progressive and Alternative will be made available in the US on all adult swim platforms. Sorry for the change of plans! International releases often have lots of moving parts, and we want to remain good partners to our friends in Japan. For now, we hope you enjoy the English language premiere of FLCL : Progressive tonight at midnight on Toonami.
FLCL: Progressive launches on June 3 at midnight. The six-episode series will receive a theatrical run in Japan, hitting theaters on September 29.
Kazuya Tsurumaki (FLCL, Gunbuster) is supervising the project, with Katsuyuki Motohiro (Psycho-Pass, Atom The Beginning) working at Chief Director at Production I.G. Chikashi Kubota (One-Punch Man, Corpse Princess) is in charge of character designs for the project, while Hideto Iwai writes the scripts.
The Pillows will score the show’s soundtrack, and perform opening theme song Spiky Seeds.
