Earlier today, an official website opened its doors to announce that Makoto Fukami and illustrator Seigo Tokiya’s Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka (Mahou Shojo Tokushusen Asuka) is getting an anime TV series. The first cast and crew members, along with a trailer and visual were shown off.
We break the details down below.
The three-minute promo opens with lead actress Aya Suzaki greeting the audience. The video cuts to a proper trailer at the 64-second mark. The promo opens with a shot of the manga panels, before cutting to rapid cuts of animation sequences, set to a shredding guitar riff.
At the close of the teaser, Suzaki returns to close the presentation.
Th visual features a bloodied Asuka Ōtorii, blade in hand as she walks away from a haze of flaming wreckage.
Hideyo Yamamoto (The Prince of Tennis II, Strike The Blood) will direct the project at Liden Films, with Yoko Suzuki (Puzzle & Dragons X) providing character designs. The team of Makoto Fukami (Berserk 2016, Yuruyuri San Hai!) and Norimitsu Kaihō (School-Live!< Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation) is in charge of series composition.

Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka hits Japanese TV in January 2019.
Makoto Fukami and illustrator Seigo Tokiya’s Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka manga launched in Square Enix’s Big Gangan magazine in June 2015. The series currently spans seven volumes, with volume 8 shipping to stores on July 25.
Seven Seas currently holds the rights to the title in North America. They describe it as:
