Earlier today, it was revealed via the BanG Dream! official website that auditions are going to be held in the very near future to replace actress/keyboardist Satomi Akesaka who will be “graduating” from the group at an event in September due to sudden hearing loss.

The auditions for the new keyboardist are starting with an application process for females who are between the ages of 13 and 20 who manage to send in their applications before the August 13th deadline. Those who pass the first round will be invited to audition for the group in early September in Tokyo. The lucky woman who passes the Tokyo audition will be recast to play the role of Rinko Shirokane in the BanG Dream! franchise.

BanG Dream! is a multimedia franchise which first launched in early 2015. It features a number of bands including Poppin’ Party, Happy World!, Pastel*Palettes, Afterglow, Roselia, and their all-male band called Argonavia.

The main anime that adapts theĀ BanG Dream! world aired in January 2017 and was licensed in the west by Sentai Filmworks who describe it as:

When she was a child, Kasumi Toyama (played by Poppin’ Party’s lead singer, Aimi) felt a heart-pounding thrill every time she gazed at the stars, and she’s been looking without success for something that could inspire the same feeling ever since. One day, she comes across a star-shaped guitar in a rundown pawnshop and, for the first time, discovers the thrill she’s been searching for. Kasumi becomes determined to form an all-girl band, and her search leads her to four like-minded souls: Saya, Arisa, Rimi, and Tae (all brought to life by the members of Poppin’ Party). Does this band have what it takes to make their dreams of stardom come true?

Two sequel seasons have already been announced which will air in January and October 2019 and be animated by Sanzigen Animation Studio.
