Ashly Burch Leaves Steins;Gate 0 Broadcast Dub Cast


It’s time for fans to give a fond farewell to a beloved cast member.

On August 1, Funimation announced that Ashly Burch is unable to continue her role as Mayuri in Funimation’s Steins;Gate 0 SimulDub. She will be succeeded by Megan Shipman, who will voice the character for the remainder of its broadcast run.

Steins;Gate 0 Cour 2 Key VisualFunimation cites personal and time constraints as the primary indicator for her leaving the production. When asked about whether Burch will be able to return for the home video release, Funimation replied with “no word at the moment, but we will let you all know as we get closer to home video time.”

Burch issued a statement regarding her exit from the series:

I’m heartbroken that due to scheduling impossibilities, I won’t be able to continue voicing Mayuri for the remainder of the series. I love this show and character, and I don’t take this decision lightly. All my love and apologies to the fans for this change.

Burch is expected to remain in her role as Sasha for Attack on Titan‘s third season.

Steins;Gate 0’s SimulDub launched on April 30, on FunimationNow. Thirteen episodes have been dubbed as of press time.

Kenichi Kawamura (Rozen MaidenSoniAni: Super Sonico The Animation) is directing Steins;Gate 0 at studio White Fox, with Tomoshige Inayoshi (Battle Spirits: Sword Eyes) providing character designs. Jukki Hanada (Love Live! School idol projectSteins;Gate) is in charge of series composition.

Hanada was also in charge of series composition for the original Steins;Gate anime. Tomoshige Inayoshi was an episode animation director for the original series.

Funimation describes the series as:

A divergent continuation of the original Steins;Gate ending, Steins;Gate 0 explores an alternate worldline where Okabe abandons time travel. While attempting to forget past traumas and get his life back on track, he meets an AI that re-opens old wounds.
