Sword Art Online: Alicization Anime Gets Los Angeles Premiere on 9/15/2018


Sword Art Online: Alicization Key VisualIt looks like Kirito’s going Hollywood… er… somewhat.

Earlier today, Aniplex of America hosted their “Sword Art Online Summer Festival” panel at Otakon. During the event, the publisher announced that Sword Art Online: Alicization will have its North American première in Los Angeles. The hour-long first episode will be screened on September 15, at Los Angeles’ Montalban Theater.

The series will have launch events in six other countries, including Japan, Australia, France, Germany, Russia, and South Korea.

Japan’s event will also be held on September 15, at the Tokyo International Forum Hall C. Actors Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Haruka Tomatsu, and Ai Kayano will all attend the screening.

Sword Art Online: Alicization will hit Japanese TV in October.

Manabu Ono (Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, The irregular at magic high school) will direct the project at A-1 Pictures, with the team of Gou Suzuki (Oreimo 2, Minami-ke Natsuyasumi), Shingo Adachi (Megaman Star Force, Sword Art Online), and Tomoya Nishiguchi providing character designs. Yuki Kajiura is scoring the show’s soundtrack.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Asuna Yūki: Haruka Tomatsu
  • Kazuto Kirigaya/Kirito: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka
  • Alice Zuberg: Ai Kayano
  • Eugeo: Nobunaga Shimazaki

Sword Art Online: Alicization will adapt the “Alicization” arc of the Sword Art Online light novels, which spans volumes 9 – 18.
