Zombie Land Saga’s Franchouchou Stars in Drive-In Tori Commercial

You thought that was just a bit?

On November 6, the official Zombie Land Saga Twitter account updated with a TV spot for Drive-In Tori. The 23-second ad features footage from the show’s fifth episode, which saw the fictional idol group starring in a commercial for the famed yakitori restaurant chain.

Sadly, the great Tae Yamada’s time to shine was dubbed out for an actual rooster cry.

Zombie Land Saga began airing on October 4.

Munehisa Sakai (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal Season 1, One Piece Episodes 244 – 372) is directing the series at MAPPA, with Kazumi Fukagawa (Idolish7) providing character designs. Shigeru Murakoshi (Azure Striker Gunvolt, Garo: Crimson Moon) is in charge of series composition for the project.

He added that MAPPA CEO Manabu Otsuka had the original idea for the work, stating “Otsuka-san of MAPPA had the idea and a clear vision.”

Crunchyroll is streaming the show as part of their Fall 2018 simulcast lineup. They describe it as:

A typical morning. The usual music. Their normal lives. The peace these seven girls experience will suddenly be destroyed. By the living dead… zombies. A reality that they never wanted a part of, an amazing and terrifying zombie world. They all share one wish: “We want to live.” These girls will struggle through this saga, in order to achieve a miracle. MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames team up to bring you a juicy, 100% original anime. A timeless shocker for all audiences, a brand new style of zombie anime, will soon rise.

The Takarazuka Revue, Girl Princes, and Their Influences on Modern Yuri

While the predominantly male owners and showrunners of the Takarazuka Revue as well as the men running the manga publishing industry may seek to downplay, bury, or even deny lesbian relationships, girls’ love, and any notion of gender being challenged, it is both our right and our duty as fans – if not of yuri, then of anime and manga in general – to expose these histories and lift them up.
