Makoto Shinkai Working On Tenki no Ko: Weathering With You Movie


With the right people, we can weather any storm.

On December 13, CoMix Wave Films announced that they are working with Makoto Shinkai to produce a new anime film. The project, titled Tenki no Ko: Weathering With You (Weather Child: Weathering With You). An official website opened for the film, which contains a key visual, a brief plot overview, the first staffers, and the main voice cast.

Makoto Shinkai is directing the film and writing the scripts at CoMix Wave Films, with Masayoshi Tanaka () providing character designs. Other confirmed crew members include:

Premiere

Tenki no Ko: Weathering With You will open on July 19, 2019. The film will get a global release, with theatrical runs slated for North America, Asia, Europe, and South America.

Plot

The film will revolve around Hodaka Morishima, an average high school student, who lives on a remote island. He moves to Tokyo, though he quickly runs out of money and finds himself living his days in solitude. Fortune smiles upon Hodaka one day, when he’s hired to write for an occult magazine. The days following his hiring are marked by unending rain.

One day, in an unspecified part of this metropolis, Kotaro encounters Hina Amano, a young woman who lives with her brother due to various specified. Unbeknownst to Hodaka, Hina has a mysterious power: she can make the rain stop, and bring light back to the city.
