This morning, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their list of nominees for the 91st Academy Awards. This year, Mamoru Hosoda’s Mirai was revealed to be a nominee for Best Animated Feature Film. The full list of nominees is as follows:

- Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse
The 91st Academy Awards ceremony will be held on February 24, at 8:00PM EST (5:00PM PST).
GKIDS currently holds the rights to Mirai, which hit North American theaters on November 29, 2018. In December, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that the film was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature.
Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) directed the project at Studio Chizu. Hosoda is also credited with the scripts and original story.

When four-year-old Kun meets his new baby sister, his world is turned upside down. Named Mirai (meaning “future”), the baby quickly wins the hearts of Kun’s entire family. As his mother returns to work, and his father struggles to run the household, Kun becomes increasingly jealous of baby Mirai… until one day he storms off into the garden, where he encounters strange guests from the past and future – including his sister Mirai, as a teenager.
