Anthony Simpson: Evening
Samantha Ferreira: Tonight, we’re talking up The Promised Neverland, Episode 9: “Hopes… deleted”
Anthony Simpson: Who would have guessed there would be a giant cliff on the other side of the wall.
Samantha Ferreira: Honestly, I thought that was brilliant when they made the big reveal
Because the first thing we saw was that sprawling forest ahead
Anthony Simpson: The way it was revealed was fantastic.
This whole episode was great.
Samantha Ferreira: It really was
Like… the whole thing was underscored by the dread that they were all feeling
Anthony Simpson: The camera work of Norma going done the hall to get a glass of water. I loved the way it was animated. It was excellent.
Especially seeing Norma break down there getting a glass of water.
Samantha Ferreira: That was fantastic. Like… that whole segment was so meticulously shot
That said… Ray saying “I remember when I was a fetus” was groan-worthy
Anthony Simpson: That was kind of….out there.
I didn’t care for it
Samantha Ferreira: I get it
They needed exposition
but…
they could’ve dialed it forward to “I remember when I was an infant”
Anthony Simpson: On the other hand he found what he needed the camera for to finish the device.
Samantha Ferreira: Indeed.
Which could also be used as a taser. Yowza.
Anthony Simpson: I would fine with just saying he remembered when he was an infant.
Yea that caught me by surprise that when Norman pushed the button and it did that.
Samantha Ferreira: Indeed
Anthony Simpson: I was expecting something internal to happen and that be it.
Samantha Ferreira: I’m wondering if that’ll have a use later
Anthony Simpson: When Norman returned I though with the look in his eyes he was going to straight up kill Isabella. Just walk up and shank her in the gut.
Samantha Ferreira: …That would be a plot twist
But yeah… Norman’s monster food now D: RIP
Anthony Simpson: I’m still thinking there is going to be some type of escape.
Samantha Ferreira: Oh, no doubt
And that’ll be season 2 – it’ll end on a cliffhanger with the kids outside of Grace Field
Anthony Simpson: Now if they do escape how is it going to happen?
Samantha Ferreira: Hm
Anthony Simpson: If I had to guess its probably going to be through the front gate since the gorge makes escape that way impossible.
Samantha Ferreira: Oh, no doubt
But I wonder where…? LIke… one of the side doors? Straight through?
Make a zipline and gap the gorge?
Anthony Simpson: I’m guessing straight through.
Samantha Ferreira: That’s the most logical, for sure… but this show’s been good about keeping us guessing
Anthony Simpson: True.
Samantha Ferreira: I kind of hope this has some crazy swerve we didn’t expect
Anthony Simpson: Now that the kids have to come up with a different escape plan I’m interested in the note and pen left by Krone has to offer.
Samantha Ferreira: Same. Norman found the pen, so I wonder if he figured out what it is.
Also, there are the details about William Minerva
Anthony Simpson: Yes there is that.
Samantha Ferreira: It’s hard to believe there are only a few episodes left this season. There is so much going on
Anthony Simpson: There better be a season 2 of this show.
Samantha Ferreira: I don’t doubt we’ll get one
I just hope they can keep up the quality once the hiatus is over
Anthony Simpson: If they have the same staff I’m sure they will be able to do so. That too also depends on the quality of the source material that they still have to adapt.
Samantha Ferreira: True that.
I haven’t read any of it, but friends of mine are raving in a pretty big way, so that bodes well
Anthony Simpson: I haven’t read it either. I might have to get it a read in the near future.
Samantha Ferreira: Likewise.. Thank god for that $1.99 Shonen Jump subscription!
