The Skye’s The Limit

A Final Fantasy XIV Travelogue

Today’s Grimoire Entry

Mon grimoire préféré,

Today, my “lay over” in Limsa Lominsa finally ended! Hooray! Now, it was time for one last destination: Gridania. It feels like il y a une vie since I said farewell to this realm of lush forests, and easy going lifestyles. But, as I stepped out of the airship, I could only smile brightly.

Je suis à la maison.

The Aetheryte shard stood, keeping a quiet vigil over the city, and the odd traveler ran from place to place… it was like stepping back ten years, into my days as un adolescent, when I would rush from the stores to the eaves from the time the sun rose, to the hours when it disappeared for its slumber.

Even old Monsieur Beatin at the Carpenter’s Guild looked as he always did, silently scowling on his employees. And, well… let’s just say he didn’t forget that time when I accidentally cast Fire on his shipment of Maple Logs.

Still, he did accept me as a pupil this time, and I will do my best to make him proud.

Walking between the boutiques, to the Quiver’s Hold, to Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre…. Nothing has changed since I left those months ago. Well.. one thing changed.

As I walked toward Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre, I spied un fille familiar. She was dressed funny, and her complexion had changed, but I’d know her vibrant face anywhere. Ma mère was standing by the water, enjoying a break. I couldn’t help but rush over and give her the biggest of hugs! We spent some time catching up, and she explained that she no longer worked at the bakery.

Mademoiselle Safira had retired after many years… so she was working for Mih Khetto now. Her Wildwood stylings were thanks to something known as… Fantasia? I… did not ask the details, but apparently it is a dress code of sorts.

I could see in her eyes that things were tough… but she is as stubborn as always… She would not let me help, and I would not force her. It is not our way. Still… she wished me well, and told me not to let Serpent Officers wait… I had a duty for Eorzea… and it was mine to accomplish.

I promise, maman, we shall meet again soon.

~Bon Voyage

Today’s Blog Post

Tonight marks the two week mark since I started The Skye’s The Limit, and the two-week mark since I began Final Fantasy XIV proper. After tonight, we’ll be reducing the output from daily to three times a week, mostly so that we can balance Skye’s adventures with other features.

That said, I couldn’t have ended this whirlwind rush any more perfectly. From the beginning, I had hoped to reach Gridania by the time I started to scale back. To give Skye her homecoming, and to move into what’s essentially the next major phase of the game… it’s a lovely capstone to what I’ll call a prologue to the grand adventure.

I hope that you’ll stick around to join us as the adventures continue: Eorzea’s a big world, and there’s still a lot to see. I can’t wait to experience it all with each and every one of you.
