Wit Studio Producing “The Great Pretender” Anime


The Great Pretender Teaser ImageEarlier today, anime studio Wit Studio hosted a panel at Anime Expo. During the event, they announced that they will produce a new anime project, titled The Great Pretender. The project will run for twenty-three episodes, which will begin airing in 2020.

An official website for the project opened its doors shortly after the reveal, which teases announcements on July 6.

Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Evangelion franchise, FLCL) will serve as the original character designer for the project, while Ryota Kosawa tackles series composition. Other confirmed staff members include:

  • Animation Director: Hiro Kaburagi
  • Music: Yutaka Yamada
  • Producer: Maiko Okada

The title’s director has not been announced as of press time.
