Haikyuu OVA Key VisualGet ready sports fans because Haikyuu is returning to the airwaves this winter!

At a fan event held over the weekend, it was revealed that the fourth season of the popular anime adaptation of the volleyball manga, Haikyuu will be airing starting January 2020. Not only that, however, but a brand new OVA titled Haikyuu!! Riku vs. Kuu will hit Japanese store shelves on January 22!

Originally a one-shot created by Haruichi Furudate which ran in Shonen Jump Next magazine in 2011, the series began its serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump the next year and became a runaway hit. As of this year, the series has been compiled in 39 volumes in Japan and is still ongoing.

In 2014, Production I.G started adapting the series to anime. As of this year, the series has received three TV seasons and four movies. Crunchyroll currently has all three TV seasons and two movies available on their site subtitled while HiDive has all three TV seasons in dubbed and subbed format.

Based off of the original Weekly Shonen Jump manga series from Haruichi Furudate, Haikyu!! is a slice-of-life sports anime revolving around Shoyo Hinata’s love of volleyball. Inspired by a small-statured pro volleyball player, Hinata creates a volleyball team in his last year of middle school. Unfortunately the team is matched up against the “King of the Court” Tobio Kageyama’s team in their first tournament and inevitably lose. After the crushing defeat, Hinata vows to surpass Kageyama After entering high school, Hinata joins the volleyball team only to find that Tobio has also joined.
