Somali and the Forest Spirit Anime Gets New Trailer & Cast Member


Earlier today, the official Somali and the Forest Spirit anime website updated with a new teaser trailer, as well as a cast reveal. We break the details down below.

Trailer

The two-minute promo offers a brief overview of the show’s plot, using character dialogue to drive the major story beats. Opening theme song Arigatō wa Kocchi no Kotoba by Naotaro Moriyama kicks in as a background track at the 15-second mark.

Cast

The series will add the following:

  • Kikila: Yu Kobayashi

Somali and the Forest Spirit Anime VisualSomali and the Forest Spirit will hit Japanese TV in January 2020. Crunchyroll will stream the title on their digital platform.

Kenji Yasuda (Macross Delta, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens) will direct the project at Satelight, with Ikuko Ito (The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, Sailor Moon SuperS) providing character designs.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Golem: Daisuke Ono
  • Somali: Inori Minase
  • Shizuno: Hiroki Nanami
  • Uzoi: Saori Hayami
  • Yabashira: Tatsuhisa Suzuki
  • Haitora: Yuuki Ono

In Somali and the Forest Spirit, the human species has been persecuted and driven to the point of extinction, and the surface world is ruled by a host of an unusual-looking humanoids. One day in this strange world, Golem, the guardian of the forest, encounters a young human girl who addresses Golem as “Papa”. This is the story of that fateful meeting, the father-daughter bond that grows between human being and forest guardian, and their journey together.
