“Weathering With You” Gets Western Preview Screenings On 1/15/2020 & 1/16/2020


 Weathering With You Anime Film English VisualOn October 23, GKIDS announced that they will host a series of preview screenings for Weathering With You. The publisher will partner with Fathom Events to give the film a two-night run on January 15 and 16, 2020. The screenings will feature bonus content that will not be shown during the general release of the film.

Tickets will go on sale on November 15, via Fathom Events’ website. The film’s general theatrical run will begin on January 17.

Makoto Shinkai directed the film and wrote the scripts at CoMix Wave Films, with Masayoshi Tanaka (anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, your name.) providing character designs.

GKIDS describes the film as:

GKIDS proudly presents the highly-anticipated new film from director Makoto Shinkai and the creative team, including producer Genki Kawamura, behind the critically-acclaimed, global smash hit Your Name. The summer of his high school freshman year, Hodaka runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day, as if to suggest his future. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hodaka meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong-willed girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky…
