Dr. Stone Anime Gets Second Season


Earlier today, the final episode of the Dr. Stone anime’s first season aired on Japanese TV. The end of the episode contained an 18-second teaser trailer, which confirmed that the show will receive a second season. The promo also revealed that the upcoming season will focus on the manga’s “Stone Wars” arc.

The Dr. Stone anime launched on July 5. Crunchyroll is streaming the show as a simulcast, while Funimation is producing a SimulDub.

Dr Stone Anime VisualShinya Iino directed the first season at TMS Entertainment, with Yuko Iwasa (Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, Yowamushi Pedal Movie) providing character designs. Yuichiro Kido (Gatchaman CROWDS insight) was in charge of series composition.

Several thousand years after a mysterious phenomenon that turns all of humanity to stone, the extraordinarily intelligent, science-driven boy, Senku Ishigami, awakens. Facing a world of stone and the total collapse of civilization, Senku makes up his mind to use science to rebuild the world. Starting with his super strong childhood friend Taiju Oki, who awakened at the same time, they will begin to rebuild civilization from nothing… Depicting two million years of scientific history from the Stone Age to present day, the unprecedented crafting adventure story is about to begin!
