Earlier today, the official Love Live! website announcd that a new anime project is in the works. The new series, titled Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Dōkōkai (Nijigasaki Academy’s School Idol Appreciation Club), will be a TV series. A visual for the project was also revealed, which you can check out below.
As of press time, no further details have been announced.
The nine-member Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Dōkōkai were revealed in 2017, as part of the Love Live! School Idol Festival game’s 2017 “Perfect Dream Project.”
Love Live! is a multimedia project from Dengeki G’s magazine, music label Lantis, and anime studio Sunrise. The project kicked off in 2010, with the first anime series hitting the airwaves in the winter 2013 broadcast season.
The latest series, Love Live! Sunshine!! aired in the Summer 2016 broadcast season, and ran for two cours. Kazuo Sakai (Mushi-Uta) helmed the project at Sunrise. Yūhei Murota and Jukki Hanada both reprised their roles on the project as character designer and series composition, respectively.
A feature film, Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie: Over the Rainbow, opened in Japan on January 4. The core cast and staff members returned from the TV series for the project.
Funimation holds the rights to the film, which they describe as:
