Disclaimer: The Herald Anime Club discusses shows as they’re airing. Naturally, there will be spoilers for a given episode. You have been warned!
Samantha Ferreira: Hi everyone, and welcome to the Herald Anime Club! I’m Samantha, and I”m here with Anthony Simpson
Anthony Simpson: Evening
Samantha Ferreira: Tonight, we’re heading back to the well with Id: INVADED Episode 11: “Anime Santa is the biggest asshole ever.”
And man, what an asshole. We called it – let’s just throw this out there. Bad Santa likes to LARP as a whiskey mascot and make people do his dirty work
Anthony Simpson: We certainly called it that John Walker is Bad Santa.
Samantha Ferreira: Yep. That said, I’m kind of impressed. He created seven serial killers
Anthony Simpson: That is something that I have on my mind. Why seven and have them each have seven victims?
Samantha Ferreira: That’s my curiosity, as well. Like, there’s something here that we’re missing.
But, I’m sure all will be revealed tomorrow. Especially since he’s apparently going trying to kill Kiki now
Anthony Simpson: I certainly hope we get some kind of answer tomorrow.
Samantha Ferreira: Likewise. At this point, it’s just compelling.
Anthony Simpson: I wonder how Hondomachi came to the realization that Bad Santa was John Walker?
I’m sure that will be answered tomorrow as well.
Samantha Ferreira: Indeed.
Oh shit, I think I get it. I think I get it.
Remember the doctor who created the Mizuhanome?
Anthony Simpson: Yes I remember that.
Samantha Ferreira: What if he was based in New York? That would explain the business trip that would cause the time difference, that would allow Santa to offer his ghastly gifts to Tamotsu Fukuda.
And a chief on a business trip can easily be looked up in a company roster – Outlook tracks that much. :P remember she was going through the tablet before she called him.
Anthony Simpson: That is right she did that.
Samantha Ferreira: On that note, I kind of liked the sentiment she had – “You like the hole in your head?” “It’s a part of me” – it was just a fascinating look into her as a character
Anthony Simpson: I liked that as well.
Samantha Ferreira: I kind of liked the whole “Inception” framework too – where we finally realized why Narihisago was able to live a full year without time passing.
Like, they really went into detail on the mechanics of this which is pretty great.
Anthony Simpson: That was a nice detail they had in there.
Samantha Ferreira: That and Fukuda’s arithmomania.
Anthony Simpson: I wasn’t expecting that.
Samantha Ferreira: Likewise… but it makes sense.
Any final thoughts this week?
Anthony Simpson: I’m hoping they can wrap things up nicely here in the next 2 episodes.
Samantha Ferreira: Likewise… it seems to be coming together nicely, so fingers crossed
‘Til next time, though, remember: if Santa asks you to do something, tell him to stuff it.
Have a great night!
Anthony Simpson: Good night
