It’s Time To Take a Stand. #BlackLivesMatter

Black Lives Matter.

Anime Herald stands in solidarity with all of our Black community members as they fight against systemic oppression. We recognize and appreciate the brilliant contributions of Black fans and creators, alike, and can’t imagine this amazing fandom being so vibrant without their voices.

That is why we’re speaking out today. Since our founding in 2010, we’ve maintained a duty to spread good wherever we can. And, in keeping with our mission, we are using our platform to say something today.

As protests have grown across the country, millions have been exposed to the horrors of reality, as police bear down on peaceful Black protestors with batons, tear gas, flashbangs, and rubber bullets; as protestor property is destroyed, and innocent people are pepper sprayed for having the audacity to gather in a place that’s in the way of one man’s photo op or, in some cases, just for standing on their own front porches.

We can not remain silent in this light, and will not do so any longer. To all of our Black readers, our contributors, our fellow community members, we stand with you.

This, of course, rings hollow on its own, and we recognize this. In the coming weeks, we encourage Black content creators to reach out with pitches and article ideas. We would love to work with you in the days and months ahead, to offer a platform for your concepts.

In addition, Anime Herald will be donating 1/3 of the revenues we’ve collected this month to Black Lives Matter. We encourage all of our readers to donate, and have provided a list of charities and organizations below:

Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly.
