Samantha Ferreira: Hi everyone, and welcome to the Herald Anime Club! Anthony and I are heading back to the land of zombie idols this week with our discussion on Zombie Land Saga episode 3: “I liked the name Jeanne d’Arc. :|”

Anthony Simpson: Evening

Samantha Ferreira: This week’s episode was a pretty big change of pace from last time – it felt much smaller in scope, given the rap battles and the metal shows we’ve seen to date

Anthony Simpson: I liked the smaller scope of the episode.

Definitely a humbling experience for the team with their street performance.

Two women, clad in short skirts and T-shirts jump up in the air. They're both holding microphones.

Samantha Ferreira: Definitely. It forced them to come down to reality a bit

It was also far more dire when Sakura forgot her lines, after trying to keep the group together for two episodes, only to have Juko and Ai step up

Anthony Simpson: I have to say I got a kick of the whole scene with them picking their group name

Samantha Ferreira: Likewise. The bit with them just going in vastly different directions was great.

Then it was just the Great Tae Yamada (TM) sneezing that did it

Anthony Simpson: I was about to say Tae Yamada saves the day again

A zombie woman with black hair sucks on a marker. Behind her, five other zombies stare with nonplussed expressions.

Samantha Ferreira: She’s just amazing like that.

Anthony Simpson: She is easily becoming my favorite character in the show despite not actually saying anything.

Samantha Ferreira: She’s just the element of chaos the group needs – like, she’s perfect for being that “reset” when needed

I also like how Yugiri just comes in with these lewd asides

It’s just a huge difference from her normally laid-back and composed attitudes

I really did like the whole conclusion to the Ai/Junko saga, also. It was schmaltzy, but it worked so well

Also, Tatsumi being Tatsumi was amazing.

A man in a suit slams his hand on a blackboard.

Anthony Simpson: It certainly was amazing.

Samantha Ferreira: He just steals the scene, no matter what

Anthony Simpson: He just chews the scenery every time he is on screen

Samantha Ferreira: Right? I love how he can just jump from effusive to manic on a dime

Anthony Simpson: Of the non-idols he is my favorite character.

Samantha Ferreira: You’re in luck… he only gets better from here on out

Anthony Simpson: \o/

Cutaway of three scenes. The left frame features a red-haired zombie smiling politely. The middle frame sees a zombie girl smiling as she's dressed in a frilly dress and flanked by various clones of herself. On the right, a blonde zombie looks ahead in frustration.

Samantha Ferreira: So, out of curiosity, what do you think will happen next?

Anthony Simpson: I’m not sure myself. I do know about Lily since well that was hard to avoid when the show was airing and I did RT when you posted about it on Twitter when the show was airing.

Samantha Ferreira: Yeah… the Lily Hoshikawa stuff was big.

I won’t say much there, since we’ll come to up the episode soon enough. :D

I guess that does it for this week, though! Any final thoughts?

Anthony Simpson: I’m curious to see what the next episode has to offer.

Samantha Ferreira: Hehe. I look forward to discussing it!

Til next time, though, remember: when in doubt, the Great Tae Yamada (TM) will have a solution.

Have a great night!

Anthony Simpson: Good night

Several zombies flank a whiteboard as they workshop a band name.
