Hi there, lovely reader! I’m Samantha Ferreira, and I’m that crazy girl who rambles about Super Sentai and Nintendo on Twitter in her free time, so I’ve got that going for me. Oh! I’m also Anime Herald’s founder and editor-in-chief.
Anyway! I’ve been an anime fan since I was about eight years old, when my uncle jumped me in with shows like Galaxy Express 999 and Dirty Pair. From there, I just kind of grew up in this wonderful subculture. I was a child of the ’80s, and a former denizen of the small clubs who literally grew up with shows like Macross, Ranma ½, and Sailor Moon.
In retrospect, I have a ton of questions to ask, there. Like… too many, including “Why would you let a nine-year-old child watch Akira?!”
But anyway! I’ve been enjoying anime since the VHS days, and I started working as an anime writer in 2003, when I earned a position at Anime Dream. I founded Anime Herald in 2010, and I’ve been working to spread the good word of anime ever since.
In addition to being an anime journalist who fights the good fight against sleep, I’m also a software engineer who’s been active since 2010.
