Kazuki Yao has been active in the industry since the 1980s, where he played Heffner in Captain Tsubasa. Through his career, Yao has held numerous iconic roles, including Franky in One Piece, Judau Ashta in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, and Koichiro Iketani in Initial D. This year’s convention will be his first-ever East Coast convention appearance.

Voice Actor Kazuki Yao to appear at the Northeast’s largest anime convention

Boston – Anime Boston, the largest anime convention in New England, announced its ninth Japanese guest of honor today.  Voice Actor Kazuki Yao will be appearing at Anime Boston at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston, Mass, on March 30 through April 1, 2018.

A veteran voice actor, Kazuki Yao’s impressive career spans more than three decades.    Among his lengthy list of credits, he’s probably best known for playing Franky and Bon Clay in One Piece, Judau Ashta in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, and Koichiro Iketani in Initial D.  He’s also had leading roles in such anime as Bastard!!, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc, Gunbuster, Gunslinger Girl, Sgt. Frog, Tenjho Tenge, and Wedding Peach. He’s also well known in the Super Sentai series world for his roles in Kakuranger, Carranger, Magiranger, Kyoryuger, and Ninninger.

Anime Boston marks his first East Coast Convention Appearance.

Said Victor Lee, Convention Chair, “Since I’ve only just discovered One Piece, Kazuki Yao has gotten me acting like a fan! As the voice of both Bon Clay and Franky, he gets to play both good and bad. For me, though, it’s being the voice of Judau Ashta from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ that has me excited!”

Previously announced guests include FLOW, Asaka, Greg Ayres, Monica Rial, Hideyuki Tomioka, Katsuyuki Sumizawa, Hirokatsu Kihara, Michihiko Suwa, Kaoru Wada, Kaiji Tang, Josh Grelle, Amanda C. Miller, Jez Roth, Rachel Robinson, Christopher Bevins, J. Michael Tatum, Brandon McInnis, Caitlynn French, Scott Gibbs, Yūji Mutō, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, and Steve Blum.
