Aniplex of America announced that they will release Anohana -The Flower We Saw That Day The Movie- on DVD and Blu-Ray. The film will ship in a limited edition Blu-Ray/DVD combo set, as well as standard edition Blu-Ray and DVD releases. All three editions will include the following extra features:


  • Textless Opening (Special O.A. Version)
  • Theatrical Trailers
  • TV Commercials

The limited edition will include a compilation music CD, four memorial postcards, a double-sided Menma poster, and a companion booklet. The limited edition will be priced at $79.98, while the standard edition DVD and Blu-Ray releases will cost $29.98 and $39.98, respectively.

The Movie that Melted the Hearts of Millions is Coming This Summer!

SANTA MONICA, CA (May 24, 2014) –Aniplex of America announced earlier today their plans to release Anohana -The Flower We Saw That Day The Movie- on both Blu-ray and DVD on July 15th. This movie adaptation of the popular original anime series will be featured in a Collectors’ Edition (Blu-ray, DVD & CD Combo Set), Standard Edition Blu-ray, and Standard Edition DVD. Pre-orders for all SKUs will begin on May 27th and will be available in the U.S., Canada, Central and South Americas.

Aniplex of America has screened the Anohana-The Flower We Saw That Day The Movie-across North America including 28 U.S. and 35 Canadian theaters this past January and the film proved to be extremely popular as numerous showings were sold out and many requests for additional screenings from fans in various cities continued to come in.

In Anohana -The Flower We Saw That Day The Movie-, fans can once again join the members of the Super Peace Busters as they gather to remember their dear friend Menma one year after their emotional reunion. The story beautifully incorporates highlights from the TV series as well as demonstrating Jinta and the rest of the group slowly coming to terms with their past and looking toward their futures together. The film is sure to be a heartwarming experience for both fans that are new to Anohana and fans that have followed the TV series alike.

All three editions include the feature film in the original Japanese language with both English and Spanish subtitles. The bonus contents feature the textless opening (Special O.A. Version), the theatrical trailers, and TV commercial collections. The Collectors’ Edition also features a compilation music CD (including the theme song by GALILEO GALILEI “Circle Game”), a set of 4 memorial postcards, a double-sided Menma poster, and a deluxe booklet all encased in an exclusive box illustrated by the character designer Masayoshi Tanaka.

Are your “friends” from back then, still your “friends” now? This is a story of one summer miracle. Due to a tragic accident during their childhood that took the life of one of their friends, 5 friends grew apart from one another. One summer day “Menma,” their friend who passed away, appears before them. She tells them that she must have a wish granted in order to pass on to the afterlife. But, she cannot remember what that wish is. The friends meet once more to figure out how to help “Menma.” Time that stood still begins to slowly move once more…Why did “Menma” come back?
