Aniplex of America revealed their plans for the theatrical release of Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu. The film will screen in subtitled format in select theaters, starting on February 26, 2016. Fans who attend the screening will receive a special gift, while supplies last.

Aniplex will also release the Monogatari Series soundtrack, Utamonogatari -Monogatari Series Theme Songs Complation Album on January 18, 2016. The album includes all 23 opening and closing themes from the Monogatari series. Two editions will be released: a $39.98 Limited Edition, as well as a $34.98 Standard release. The Limited Edition includes a bonus Blu-Ray with the series opening and closing animation sequences.

Part 1 of Highly Anticipated Trilogy to Hit Select U.S. Theaters Starting 2/26

SANTA MONICA, CA (January 11, 2016) – Aniplex of America has confirmed today their plan to release the theatrical feature, KIZUMONOGATARI PART 1: TEKKETSU, the first of the highly anticipated trilogy, in select U.S. theaters starting on February 26th. As they have previously announced last month, PART 1: TEKKETSU will be featured in the original Japanese language with English subtitles and distributed by Azoland Pictures. Fans can now visit the official U.S. website(www.Kizumonogatari-USA.com) to get details on the participating theaters and their respective showtimes. Aniplex of America has also confirmed that patrons will receive a special giveaway item with each purchased ticket at the theater while supplies last. Details on the special giveaway will be announced at a later date.

In addition, to commemorate this theatrical release, Aniplex of America has also announced the release of the MONOGATARI Series soundtrack, “UTAMONOGATARI –MONOGATARI SERIES THEME SONGS COMPLIATION ALBUM-” on January 18th. The gorgeous Limited Edition album includes all 23 of the opening and ending theme songs from BAKEMONOGATARI through MONOGATARI Series 2nd Season on 2 CDs as well as Textless Opening and Ending videos on a Blu-ray disc. The Standard Edition also includes all 23 tracks on 2 CDs. Both editions feature newly illustrated cover art by character designer Akio Watanabe.

KIZUMONOGATARI PART 1: TEKKETSU features the origin story of the highly popularMonogatari Series originally created by author NISIOISIN and is a direct prequel to theBAKEMONOGATARI television series. The story follows the protagonist Koyomi Araragi and his encounter with the horrifying vampire, Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade A.K.A. the “King of Apparitions.” Koyomi saves the fatally wounded Kiss-shot by offering his blood to her in exchange for his own life as a human. This highly anticipated film will be bringing together an all-star creative staff team including Director Tatsuya Oishi (Series Director of BAKEMONOGATARI), Character Designer Akio Watanabe, who worked on the entire Monogatari series, and Chief Director Akiyuki Shimbou (Madoka Magica, Monogatari Series, NISEKOI). Studio SHAFT will be responsible for the anime production.
