Samantha Ferreira: Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Herald Anime Club! I’m Samantha, and I’m here with Anthony.
Anthony Simpson: Evening
Samantha Ferreira: Tonight, we’re returning to Grace Field House for another episode of The Promised Neverland.
And wow… this show does not mess around.
Anthony Simpson: No, it doesn’t, and I love it for that.

Samantha Ferreira: I love how it literally went from “suspense” to straight-up horror, right down to the cuts with Mama
Those were great.
Samantha Ferreira: Definitely. Especially that one point at the climax, where it cuts to Emma silently mourning Connie, then to Norman, then back to Emma, who has a glaring Mama Isabella right beside her.
Anthony Simpson: So we got our reason why Emma and Norman haven’t been sent out yet for demon chow.
Samantha Ferreira: Yeah. Though something tells me that Emma was being raised for… something else.
Anthony Simpson: Possibly being groomed to be the Mama in the future perhaps?
That is my guess

Samantha Ferreira: Bingo
I’m still surprised at just how string this series is, right out the gate. The pacing, the characterization, the animation is great. Like… bringing Emma’s night terrors to the screen, or just her subtle tics in that breakfast scene.
Anthony Simpson: It is those nuances that make it all so great.
Samantha Ferreira: It really is. On that note, I really love how this series has embraced utter silence
Anthony Simpson: As do I.
Samantha Ferreira: It really helps to build the atmosphere and tension, and it makes itself just straight-up known at points
Anthony Simpson: True.
Samantha Ferreira: So, what are your thoughts on Sister Krone?

Anthony Simpson: My guess is she is the same team as Mama is.
In terms of selling the kids off.
Samantha Ferreira: No doubt. I just wonder what role she’ll play in the coming episodes – how overt she’ll serve as an enforcer, or sorts
Anthony Simpson: I’m curious to that as well.
So according to Norman its demon territory outside of the walls. So my question is if that is the case what happened to the other humans? Obviously they exist but I wonder if there was some kind of war that wiped most of humanity.
Samantha Ferreira: Indeed. I’m wondering that, myself. Also, I’m wondering what, exactly, awaits the humans if they run into demons on the outside
Like… it’s clear there’s a pact there, but… how far does it extend, really? Are humans literally just limited to the farms, or have they eked out little havens of their own…?
Anthony Simpson: At this point we certainly don’t know. We know the current farm services the Demon’s. Hopefully we get some kind of answer down the road.
Samantha Ferreira: True that.
There are a lot of questions, and a lot of possibilities at this point… but it’s encouraging that it’s getting us to speculate about some big, wide world out there already

Anthony Simpson: It’s only getting 12 episodes, so I hope we get some kind of answer later one. As tight as the writing I hope we can get some answer that at least explains things.
Samantha Ferreira: It’s a Shonen Jump show – I’d be straight-up amazed if it wasn’t renewed
Anthony Simpson: That is true.
Samantha Ferreira: (Especially given how much Aniplex is pumping into the marketing on this :P )
But yeah… at the very least, we’ll get one of the manga’s big arcs, so I’m excited to see what happens next
Anthony Simpson: Same here.
Samantha Ferreira: Hrm… any other thoughts this week?
Anthony Simpson: No other just wanting to see what happens next episode.
Samantha Ferreira: Likewise! So I guess we’ll leave things off there.

Til next time, remember: bedsheets are not a good substitute for rope.
Have a great night, everybody!
Anthony Simpson: Good night.
