Samantha Ferreira: Hi everyone, and welcome to the Herald Anime Club! I’m Samantha, and I’m here with Anthony Simpson and L.B. Bryant.
Anthony Simpson: Evening
L.B. Bryant: Hello!
Samantha Ferreira: Tonight, we’re talking up Fruits Basket episode 10: “Best. Editor. EVER!”
L.B. Bryant: So before we get into the episode, I want to hear thoughts from both of you about how, according to Reddit, this series is going to run for 63 episodes.
Is this going to be too much of a good thing? Will our hearts be able to handle this series for over a year? :)

Samantha Ferreira: I’m waiting until we hear that from the horse’s mouth, first, as 63 doesn’t work in a typical season structure.
Unless we’re going mixed length seasons
Anthony Simpson: I’m with Sam on this one.
L.B. Bryant: Well, we do know that this season has already been confirmed to be ‘season one’
Samantha Ferreira: Right. I will hold off until I get a final word from Japan on this one
L.B. Bryant: Makes sense.
OK, so the episode… so much good stuff this week. :D
Lots of new stuff for viewers of the original to digest.
Samantha Ferreira: Hehe, indeed
We’re finally seeing more of Shigure’s true character shining through
But also: his editor! Someone who’s so hilarious that even her threats to slash her wrists on Shigure’s doorstep are somehow endearing.

L.B. Bryant: His editor is finally in the series so I can stop bitching about that now. lol
She’s easily one of my favorite characters in the entire series.
Samantha Ferreira: She’s amazing
Anthony Simpson: I did take a liking to her and now I want to see more of her.
L.B. Bryant: I really hope that she gets as much screen time as possible.
Samantha Ferreira: Same, lol.
She’s delightful
L.B. Bryant: In other news, Shigure is much darker this time around. I loved the heavy foreshadowing that happened in this episode when he visited the main house.
Samantha Ferreira: Indeed. He’s more in line with the manga incarnation, now
L.B. Bryant: I really can’t wait to see his storyline play out over the course of the series.

Samantha Ferreira: Saaame
I won’t spoil it
But it gets dark
L.B. Bryant: Yeah, I know the manga gets pretty dark in the later chapters but I don’t know specifics.
Anthony Simpson: All news to me since I haven’t read past the first volume of the manga.
Samantha Ferreira: I do >:3
I will be watching these meetings with the biggest Cheshire cat grin
L.B. Bryant: lol I’ll keep that in mind
Samantha Ferreira: Just be warned: this train DOES NOT STOP now
L.B. Bryant: lol Yeah, I’m buckled in and ready to take a ride.
Samantha Ferreira: Good. Today was nothing in comparison

Anthony Simpson: I’m ready myself.
Being that this is all new to me.
Samantha Ferreira: I want to see L.B. react now, because we’re going to see some real divergence from that 2003 series now
L.B. Bryant: I am keenly aware that over the next few weeks I’m going to be seeing a bunch of ‘holy shit’ moments. No idea where they are going to come from though so it’s going to be like shojo sneak attacks.
Samantha Ferreira: Ohhh yeah
And I’ll be here just grinning as you do
L.B. Bryant: lol
Samantha Ferreira: buckle up.
For now, though, can I talk about how awesome Uo and Saki are still?
Best moms ever
L.B. Bryant: Indeed.
Loved this moment!

I especially loved that they changed the art style for that moment.
Anthony Simpson: Agree with Sam Uo and Saki are awesome.
Samantha Ferreira: Same, lol.
That whole sequence was amazing
From the beginning with Uo accurately likening the class to cuckoos, to Saki being disappointed with no “spill-out of goodies”, to the best hug ever
Any final thoughts this week?
L.B. Bryant: Kagura still scares me and makes me fear for Kyo’s life whenever she appears lol

Anthony Simpson: I’m still enjoying the ride so far. Waiting to see what comes next.
Samantha Ferreira: Yes, but Kagura’s also amazing
L.B. Bryant: Other than that, I’m good for this week. Looking forward to seeing what comes up next week.
Samantha Ferreira: Hehe, likewise!
Until then, remember: anime movies have the power to make even the hardest hearts melt and viewers to sob tears of joy and sadness alike.
Goodnight, everybody!
L.B. Bryant: Night :)
Anthony Simpson: Goodnight
