2015 Snow Miku Sculpture Preview Is Rough, But Promising

It seems like it’s been an eternity of build-up, but Hatsune Miku finally makes her big début at the 66th Sapporo Snow Festival next week.

Starting on February 5, a snow sculpture of the Digital Diva will be displayed at the event (along with a few friends and rivals). Merchandise booths, exhibits, and promotional displays will be set up with the display in Sapporo’s Odori Park.

In addition, Hatsune Miku will perform a pair of live concerts on February 7 and 8.

But that’s not why we’re here today.

The real draw for the event will be the snow sculpture that started the “Snow Miku” phenomenon. This year, the subject will be the “Snow Bell Miku” design we’ve seen in everything from promo art, to mini-figures. The statue’s design is simple, yet incredibly elegant, featuring Miku and Rabbit Yukine set against a background of snowflakes and snow bell flowers.
