Bandai Unveils Tales of Zestiria the X Anime Series

Tales of Destiny, Eternia, and even the Abyss have had their time in the spotlight. Now it’s time for a new story to be told…

Earlier today, Bandai Namco announced that they will produce a new anime series based on the Tales of Zestiria role-playing game. Titled Tales of Zestiria the X (“Tales of Zestiria the Cross”), the series will air on Japanese TV in 2016.

Studio ufotable (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, God Eater) will produce the series, though specific cast and crew information has not been announced as of press time. The studio also produced the Tales of Zestiria: Dōshi no Yoake TV special, which aired in December 2014.

In addition to the trailer, a visual for the project was released, which you can check out below:

The announcement was made at Bandai’s “Tales of Series IP Lineup” unveiling earlier today. Earlier this year, outlets reported that a new Tales series adaptation was in the works, though the specific title wasn’t revealed at the time. Japanese site Anime! Anime! reported that the series would be an adaptation of Tales of Zestiria, though it updated its article to reflect that the series adapted a part of the “Tales” franchise.

Tales of Vesperia was released in Japan on Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles. The title hit retailers on January 22, 2015. In North America, the title was released on the PlayStation 4 and PC on October 20.
