Cast, Netflix Stream Unveiled For “Children of the Whales” Anime


It looks like Netflix picked up a real whale of a tale!

The latest issue of Akita Shoten’s Monthly Mystery Bonita magazine (August 2016) reports that the Children of the Whales (Kujira no Kora wa Sajō ni Utau) anime will stream worldwide on Netflix.

The magazine also unveiled the show’s cast and several new cast members.

The confirmed roles include:

  • Chakuro: Natsuki Hanae
  • Rikosu: Manaka Iwami
  • Ōni: Yuichiro Umehara
  • Suō: Nobunaga Shimazaki
  • Ginshu: Mikako Komatsu
  • Ryodari: Daiki Yamashita
  • Shuan: Hiroshi Kamiya

The new staff members are as follows:

  • Color Key Artist: Miyuki Ishida
  • Editor: Masahiro Goto (REAL-T)
  • Director of Photogrpahy: Yoshio Ookouchi
  • Sound Director: Jin Aketagawa

Children of the Whales hits Japanese TV this October. The series will run on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11.

The series is based on Abi Umeda’s manga of the same nam. Kyōhei Ishiguro (Your Lie in April, Occultic;Nine) is directing the project at J.C. Staff, with Haruko Iizuka (School-Live!, Little Busters) providing character designs. Michiko Yokote (ReLIFE, Shirobako) is in charge of the show’s scripts.

Other staff members include:

  • Art Director: Toshiharu Mizutani (Moon Flower)
  • Music: Hiroaki Tsutsumi
