Ghost in the Shell‘s live-action adaptation just got bumped up by a couple of weeks. Deadline Hollywood reports that the film’s opening weekend was pushed back from April 14, 2017 to March 31, 2017. Deadline also reports that the flick will get a 3D edition.
Dreamworks’s live-action Ghost In The Shell began to gain traction in January, after Variety reported that actress Scarlett Johansson was signed for the role. Less than a week later, we received confirmation that the film was greenlit for production, and that Disney would fund the project. At the time, the film was given an April 14, 2017 première date, which would place the film’s opening on Easter weekend.
Earlier this week, Johansson confirmed that the film will enter production in early 2016.
In its new slot, Ghost in the Shell will open against Sony Pictures’s The Smurfs animated film.
